A motorcyclist is in jail after running from state troopers earlier this week. Officials said the biker traveled at speeds exceeding 120 mph as he tried to get away. Authorities said Garrick Williamson, 24, was riding with his friends on Sunday and ended up with a state patrol trooper on his tail. Capt. Bret Friesz with the Nebraska State Patrol said troopers were notified that a group of bikers were doing wheelies on Interstate 680. They stopped six motorcyclists, but they said Williamson took off. Williamson said he ran because he was driving on a suspended license. He eventually gave up and was arrested at a gas station near 90th and Fort streets. Williamson said he pulled over because the situation was getting dangerous. “It could have killed me or somebody else,” he said in a jailhouse interview with KETV NewsWatch 7. Williamson said he wants others to learn from his mistakes and he wants his family to forgive him. “I’m sorry. I will do what I can to make it up to them,” he said. Friesz said if Williamson hadn’t run from troopers, he wouldn’t be in jail and facing flight to avoid arrest charges.
